How to Prepare Samples for Transport
To ensure smooth operations and to optimize the handling of your samples, we kindly request your cooperation in using consolidation bags when utilizing our Tribal lockbox for courier services.
Sample Preparation Instructions:
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Please ensure that your lockbox is not exposed to direct sunlight when placed outdoors.
- Use Ice Packs: For sample preservation, include a minimum of two fully frozen ice packs in your lockbox. Place the ice packs at the bottom of the locker, cover them with an absorbent pad, and then place your samples on top.
- Consolidate Biobags: Before placing them in the Tribal lockbox, consolidate all your biobags into a single consolidation bag. This will aid our lab team in efficiently unpackaging and processing your samples and minimize the risk of any samples being inadvertently left behind.
Detailed Instructions for Sample Transportation:
- Consolidation Bag Labeling:
- Write the full name of the location prominently on the outside of each bag.
- For frozen specimens, place them in frozen specimen insulators. Do not put the frozen specimen pack or container in the bag with the samples. Write “Frozen” or “Room Temp” on the bag as appropriate and keep them separate. All samples that are not marked appropriately will be considered refrigerated.
- Note: Frozen specimen insulators (required for frozen specimens) must be frozen for 24 hours before placing frozen samples inside and putting them in the lockbox.
- Multiple Bags: If you have multiple consolidation bags, please label them sequentially as “Bag 1 of 2” and “Bag 2 of 2”, etc.
- Sample Count: Indicate the number of samples contained in each bag, counting one per patient.
- Date of Placement: Write the date when the samples were placed in the lockbox.
To schedule or cancel a pickup, please email pickup@tribaldiagnostics.com by 3:00pm to ensure you’re on the route for the day. If you have frozen or room temperature specimens, include that information in your email. By adhering to this request, you’ll not only contribute to the efficiency of our courier service but also help us maintain the highest standards of sample handling and processing.
