Collection Instructions
The child’s hand should be thoroughly washed with soap and
water, then dried with a clean, low-lint paper towel.
If water is unavailable, foam soaps can be used
Alternative Specimen
0.75 mL EDTA whole blood. Mix well to avoid clotting. Note: a sample collected in a non-trace metal-free tube mayresult in a falsely elevated result. A repeat venipuncturesample should be collected in a trace metal-free containerfor elevated analytic results, if clinically indicated
