To avoid false Negative results, no antibiotics, proton
pump inhibitors, or bismuth preparation should be
administered to patients for 14 days prior to sample
collection.
Note: common bismuth and proton pump inhibitors include the
following:
bismuth: pepto-bismol, kaopectate, pink bismuth.
Proton pump inhibitors: nexium, prevacid, zegerid and
prilosec.
Current medical practice recommends that assessment of
eradication by any diagnostic method should be done at least
4 weeks following completion of therapy.
