Allow SST to clot in an upright position for
at least 30 minutes, then centrifuge sample within 2 hours
of collection
Alternative Specimen
5 mL EDTA whole blood. Centrifuge sample and separate plasmafrom cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mLplasma to a plastic transport tube. Clearly label tube asEDTA plasma. Refrigerate.
