Collection Instructions

Fresh stool in fecal transport vial (cary blair with indicator). Refrigerate.
Note: No more than two bacteriology specimens are recommended. Two specimens should be submitted on separate days to increase the probability of recovering pathogens. Two separate specimens will pick up 99% of bacterial pathogens. If vibrio or yersinia is suspected, codes specific for those tests should be ordered.
