Collection Instructions

Collect two (2) green top tubes for this test.
Chill tubes prior to collection. Patient should be calm and seated for 15 minutes prior to collection. Alternately, patient may be calm and supine for 30 minutes prior to collection. Centrifuge tubes and separate plasma from cells within 1 hour of collection. Transfer 4 mL plasma to a plastic transport tube. Clearly label tube as heparin plasma. Freeze. Critical Frozen (CFZ).
When multiple tests are ordered, submit separate tube for this test.

Alternative Specimen

Collect two (2) lavender top tubes for this test.
Chill tubes prior to collection. Patient should be calm and seated for 15 minutes prior to collection. Alternately, patient may be calm and supine for 30 minutes prior to collection. Centrifuge tubes and separate plasma from cells within 1 hour of collection. Transfer 4 mL plasma to a plastic transport tube. Clearly label tube as EDTA plasma. freeze. Critical Frozen (CFZ).
When multiple tests are ordered, submit separate tube for this test.
